Eating vegetarian food out in Japan is challenging to say the least. To eat out at all, we have to carefully, and apologetically explain that we don't eat beef, chicken, fish, fish flakes, meat extracts/broths/pastes, etc, etc, and hope that they are flexible with their dishes. Japan is the "land of set meals," so customization is really outside of the norm. Anyway, long story short, Ben was able to communicate with Nakamura San, the cook at this little shop, and get the point across. Yippee for spicy, vegetarian Ramen!!!!
