Yokoso Enkai! (welcome party!)
Kagoshima JET welcome party! The city office folks know how to throw 'em! We had huge dinner at a very famous hotel perched on top of a mountain above the city, and even had a vegetarian spread just for ourselves. We had shochu, wine, sake, and of course beer as well. We weren't allowed to pour any on our own drinks though, those around us had to pour them for us, as the custom goes.
Someone caught us on stage... Ben had to say a few words and introduce me to everyone. He couldn't resist snapping a picture from up there though!

A few of us hunched down to the level of this guy... he's an important one... somewhere right below superintendant for the district...
the group had a bus at our disposal for the evening, so we went to Karaoke after dinner. This is our friend Virginia singing with Ben's boss, Taniguchi Sensei. He was really good, especially doing Elvis!

the saying " all work, no play..." doesn't seem to apply to you guys!.....it seems quite the opposite!.....u guys r havin too much fun!
